Sorwathe tea factory is located in northern Rwanda and was founded in the 1970's, the main driver being Joe Wertheim from the USA. Joe's firm Tea Importers remains as the main shareholder, his son Andrew being the company President today. They are steeped (sic) in tea, and I have been dealing with them since the early 1980's.
The 256 hectare plantation is augmented by 850 hectares of small holder green leaf. All grown at high altitude. They produce 3,000 tonnes of tea per annum - mainly CTC and orthodox black tea, and green teas too. They are the most certified mark in Rwanda !
